Hydraulic Steering Rams 80-250 cc capacity. Typically fitted up to 35ft.Hydraulic steering systems are now being used in every category of small vessel. In many respects hydraulic steering is preferable to mechanical steering. Hydraulic systems normally comprise of two main components, a steering wheel pump and steering cylinder(s). The steering wheel pump may be either a gear pump or a plunger pump. Which ever type is installed, steering is achieved by turning the steering wheel in either direction causing oil from the wheel pump to be supplied to the appropriate side of the cylinder. Oil is returned via the opposite side of the cylinder back to the pump. The linear motion of the cylinder rod is transformed to a rotary motion by the tiller, which turns the rudder shaft and rudder. Check valves (non-return valves) are usually incorporated to prevent the rudder driving the steering wheel pump. If an autopilot is to be included in such a hydraulic steering system, then the oil flow providing the rudder movement must be controlled by electrical signals from the autopilot. The maximum flow rate of RPU80, RPU160 and RPU300 is 0,8 l/min., 1,6 l/min. and 3,0 l/min. respectively, measured at a pressure of 10 bar with nominal voltage (12 VDC) on the motor terminals.AUTOPILOT / AUTOSTEERINGMax Boat Length 35ft m Max Pressure 50 bars POWERPower Supply 12V - (2.5-6A) vDC Please call or email for more details or a quote01758 613193 shop@rowlandsmarine.co.uk

Cable operated stern drive systems with a choice of fitting kits to suit most engines.MSD50 Mechanical Stern Drive. On stern drive boats (inboard/outboard) with power assisted steering, the Simrad MSD50 stern drive unit will operate the servo valve to automatically steer the boat. The MSD50 is attached to the servo unit and operates the servo valve in the same way as the push-pull (Teleflex) cable from the helm. The MSD50 generates a feedback signal to the autopilot which is relative to the motion of the actuator rod and can only be operated from autopilots that are using the AC10, AC20, AC40 autopilot computers or J300X, J300X-40 and J3000X junction units.AUTOPILOT / AUTOSTEERINGMax Stroke 190 Drive Unit Peak Pressure 60 POWERPower Supply 12V (0.8-2A) vDC Please call or email for more details or a quote01758 613193 shop@rowlandsmarine.co.uk
HLD350 MK2 and HLD2000 MK2 are hydraulic linear drives designed for boats with mechanical steering systems such as wire and cable steering (Edson, Whitlock, Teleflex). The HLD is a compact, assembled unit, consisting of a reversible hydraulic pump, a balanced hydraulic cylinder, by-pass valve and oil tank. Because of the direct connection to the rudder, the hydraulic linear drive can be used even if the hand steering should fail. This can be an important safety factor. The by-pass valve makes it possible to use the helm with little back drive force when the autopilot is switched off. The HLD350 MK2 and HLD2000 MK2L supersede the previous HLD350 and HLD2000L models. This manual also includes HLD2000 MK2D. This model is based on the same main parts as HLD350 MK2, but uses the HLD2000 MK2LD motorAUTOPILOT / AUTOSTEERINGMax Boat Displacement 10 tons Max Stroke 200 Max Torque 610 Nm Drive Unit Max Thrust 350 Drive Unit Tiller Arm 175 mm \ 6.9 in POWERPower Supply 12V (2.5-6A) vDC Please call or email for more details or a quote01758 613193 shop@rowlandsmarine.co.uk
Linear drives are the most preferred on sailboats. When attached to the quadrant or tiller it has direct control and slack in wires or cable is avoided. Several hydraulic models are available in the HLD range. They are all equipped with a bypass valve and need not be detached when steering by hand. All hydraulic linear drives are also available in a split version with the pump separated from the ram and interconnected with 1m (3ft) hoses. This will make the installation more convenient when space becomes a problem. For the bigger sailboats, a dual ram version is availableAUTOPILOT / AUTOSTEERINGMax Boat Displacement 35 tons Max Stroke 340 Max Torque 3180 Nm Drive Unit Max Thrust 1050 Drive Unit Tiller Arm 298 mm \ 11.7 in POWERPower Supply 24V (2.7-12A) vDC Please call or email for more details or a quote01758 613193 shop@rowlandsmarine.co.uk

High efficiency and low back drive are key characteristics of this Direct Drive actuator. The DD15 Direct Drive is a very strong and compact autopilot drive and more efficient than hydraulic and most electromechanical autopilot drive units. It is powerful (the max. output torque of 150 Kgm is equivalent to 150 Kg force on the end of a 1 meter steering tiller) and is build for 24 hours per day continuous operation with a total weight of only 12 Kgs. The combination of the flat wound (pancake) electric motor with the efficient planetary and spur gearbox results in an extremely efficient drive unit to keep the battery charging time to the minimum. The drive can be used on boats from 30 to 45 feet l.o.a. (or up to 150 Kgm rudder torque) equipped with a mechanical steering system that can be back driven. Due to the electro mechanical clutch, the direct drive can be back driven with the force of a finger tip leaving the mechanical steering as sensitive as without drive unit. The DD15 includes the Simrad RF300 Rudder Feedback unit with transmission link and 10 m (30 feet) of cable. It transforms the angular travel of the rudder to a digital signal read by the autopilot steering computer.AUTOPILOT / AUTOSTEERINGMax Boat Displacement 10.5 tons Max Boat Length 45ft m Max Torque 1370 Nm Drive Unit Tiller Arm 250 mm \ 9.8 in POWERPower Supply 12V (1-4A) vDC Please call or email for more details or a quote01758 613193 shop@rowlandsmarine.co.uk
